Home Reading

This week we are launching our home reading program.  We encourage students to read for 15-20 minutes each school night. No tracking is necessary. We just want our students to read for fun!

What counts as home reading material?

  • Raz Kids – This website has both fiction and non-fiction books based on your child’s reading level. Multiple choice comprehension questions are provided for each text.  We are able to monitor your child’s progress and focus on areas of need when he or she completes the comprehension questions. Raz kids logins can be found at the front of your child agenda (teacher login is lablain).
  • Books borrowed from the school library (students visit the library every day 5).
  • Any reading material from the Hamilton Public Library. (If your child does not have a card yet we will be able to help you get one.)
  • Books and magazines found at home.
  • Non-fiction text found in our surroundings (e.g., menus at a restaurant, highway signs, instructions for a board game, texts or emails, maps, etc.).

Happy reading!
